Game Hosting - Why Purchase a Game Server

Game Servers

I get asked this question quite regularly, not so much from those who already own a game server or those who play on one, but from people who have never experienced gaming.

- Why do people buy their own game server?

Well, as this article will try and reflect on the reasons why owning a game server will in fact allow you to, not only increase your abilities but also and importantly your game play experience.

To begin with, the administrative abilities that are available to someone who owns a server are incredible. It is your server and rightly so you can amend, install, omit or create new mods or configurations to be ran on your games server.

If you are a clan then owning a games server is essential. I have been playing on game servers numerous times before only to see the entire server become hijacked by a clan, not because they want a match, but due to the fact that they do not own a server themselves.

From this, there are significant limits for the clan.

Any clan can form for many reasons and at any time whatsoever, however most frequently it is to compete competitively in leagues. Popular ones such as Enemy Down or CAL will not accept you if you do not own a games server or a clan server and an updated website.

Although, this of course only applies to a clan, many people have often said, 'but I am not apart of a clan, how can a server benefit me?'.

The response to such a question changes between each individual, some will use a game server constructively to improve their gaming skills and others will play socially.

You do not have to be apart of a clan to play competitively. To use Counter Strike Source in this example, there are many CSS mixers and game servers available for individuals to play in matches if they can find a squad of 5 to compete against.

The sky is the limit if you own a game server, you could use it as a clan server, play Deathmatch on it, install mercy mod, recreate racoon city with zombie horde or the matrix with mattie's event scripts.
